Austin permit search: mechanical change-outs, October 5–11, 2026 https://www.observedwork.com/resources/austin-mechanical-permits-2026-10-05 Published: 2026-10-15 Source review: 2026-10-22 Search 72 permit records from one week and one Austin work category. Follow each official record, see the recorded contractor business name, or download the sample. Dated weekly pilot · Retrieved October 22, 2026; original October 15 observation retained · Issue dates October 5–11, 2026. Coverage: AUSTIN FULL PURPOSE jurisdiction; Mechanical Permit (MP); Change Out only. This is a frozen sample, not a live feed or a promise of weekly publication. What this sample includes The independent count query and record query both returned 72 rows, with 72 distinct permit numbers. Issue-date totals: October 5, 19; October 6, 42; October 7, 4; October 8, 4; October 9, 2; October 10, 0; October 11, 1. These describe the returned snapshot, not a guarantee of complete underlying activity. At the October 22 retrieval, 56 records had source status Active and 16 had Final. On October 15 those counts were 62 and 10. The six changes are source status updates, not newly issued permits. We filter by issue date, not current status. The broader MP Change Out query still returned 73 records; one AUSTIN LTD record was excluded to keep the jurisdiction boundary consistent. City dataset and field definitions: https://data.austintexas.gov/Building-and-Development/Issued-Construction-Permits/3syk-w9eu/about_data Search a permit, then inspect the original The table shows the source’s contractor company name without resolving related businesses or validating credentials. Search by permit number, business name, ZIP, or description. No result means no match in these 72 records; it does not mean no permit exists. Filter issue_date on or after 2026-10-05T00:00:00 and before 2026-10-12T00:00:00; permittype = MP; work_class = Change Out; jurisdiction = AUSTIN FULL PURPOSE. Order by issue_date and permit_number ascending. Query limit 1,000; verified count 72, so the download is not truncated. The exact record and count URLs are in the JSON. Date-only issue dates retain the city source’s calendar day. The source metadata reported rows updated October 22, 2026 at 12:19:04 UTC; that is a dataset timestamp, not a separate verification of every row. Phone numbers, personal contact names and street addresses are omitted from this sample. Austin source metadata: https://data.austintexas.gov/api/views/3syk-w9eu.json What a distributor can infer Mechanical change-outs can be a starting point for researching service contractors. A company field is a recorded role, not proof of who bought equipment or performed work. These permits do not establish an open bid, an unawarded job, a future order, or current contractor capacity. Do not add this count to another permit category and call it unique projects. A property or project can have multiple permits. This sample does not include all Austin construction, the metro area, unpermitted work, or a verified contractor network. Corrections, backfills and retrieval failures Austin says its database is continually updated and that results can change between retrievals. A later retrieval can add older permits or correct status, descriptions and company fields. New to a snapshot does not mean newly issued. October 22 review: record and independent count queries still return the same 72 permit numbers. No additions, removals, backfills, issue-date changes or other selected-field changes were found. Six records changed from Active to Final: 2026-120386 MP, 2026-122286 MP, 2026-125857 MP, 2026-126663 MP, 2026-128026 MP and 2026-129201 MP. These are updated observations of the October 5–11 issue cohort, not six new jobs. The current table, CSV and JSON use the October 22 statuses; the original October 15 JSON and CSV remain downloadable. Correction log: initial observation October 15, 2026; source status update October 22, 2026. Compare future retrievals by permit number and field. If retrieval fails, retain the dated snapshot and report the failure; never substitute zero activity or advance the retrieval date.
