Our public tools include official contractor-search sources for all 50 states and a dated walkthrough of one Seattle commercial permit. The source directory does not return contractor records, and that single permit example is not a live coverage inventory. For a data delivery, confirm each jurisdiction, record type, available history and update cadence with our team.

Source dates and observation dates
Agency publication schedules differ. A record’s issue date, an agency’s last update, and the time a platform first retrieves it answer different questions. Keep those distinctions in view when evaluating data freshness.

Questions worth asking any permit data vendor
Which issuing authorities are included, and which neighbouring ones are not? Does the feed carry building, mechanical and electrical permits, or only some of them? How far back does reliable history go? How often is each source retrieved, and what is the gap between an agency publishing a record and you seeing it? Which fields are frequently missing? Ask us these questions. Ask anyone else you evaluate the same ones.
Partial coverage is still an answer
A jurisdiction can be well covered for building permits and thin for mechanical work. A county may publish daily while a city inside it publishes monthly. We would rather show you that split than average it into a single reassuring number. Where we cannot support a territory yet, we will say so and record the request instead of selling against it.
